It’s hard to believe the September School Holidays are almost here! If you’re like me, the scars of the July School Holidays and the relentless ‘I’m boreeeeddd’ are still raw. I’m here to save you with my foolproof list of holiday sports for kids!

Underwater Hockey (UWH)

Yes, UWH is a thing!  As the weather warms up UWH is the perfect way to get your kids fit whilst having fun.  UWH is played worldwide. Check out the UWH Australia website for information on your local club.

Cricket

It is warming up and that means the summer of cricket is not far away! Cricket seasons are about to commence and many clubs have workshops that run over the school holidays. Cricket is great fun for boys and girls and really is an all-ages all ability sport. For more information head to the Play Cricket Australia website.
And remember…playing backyard cricket with the Fam is just as awesome!

Tennis

Another great all age, all ability sport!  Tennis is a skill for life and is played in every corner of the globe.  Tennis Australia support local clubs in special tennis camps run through the school holidays. Keen to try something different this school holidays? – then check out what is happening at your local Tennis Club!

Gymnastics!

Most local clubs run holiday workshops as a fun alternative to vacation care. Gymnastic workshops are the perfect combination of skill and strength building, social games and fun, and a break for mum and dad – PERFECT!

Get out and get active with your kids!

Kids LOVE our attention and it is great to get active together!  Why not head out together for a free day of fitness?   Local parks have free equipment, playgrounds and footpaths that are well maintained, and almost every city has a local run – so perhaps getting the family together to train together would be ideal!  Or, go for a bike ride together or head out to the beach for the day. Local pools are also another way to spend quality time with your family!

Whatever it is you chose to do these school holidays make sure you get out, get active and have fun!
